There’s nothing better than the farmhouse look for fall! Make your own DIY Farmhouse Pumpkin Bucket in just a few easy steps!

Hi friends! Can you believe that fall is here? Well, I guess technically it’s a few days out but once we hit Pumpkin Spice Season, it’s all fair game right? I mean, we’re still in the 100’s here in sunny Phoenix, AZ but for us it’s time to break out the pumpkins and decorate for fall!
From fall wreaths and porch décor to seasonal tablescapes and pumpkins, Michaels has everything you need for the latest Fall Décor trends! Which brings us to today’s latest Michael’s Makers project – our
DIY Farmhouse Pumpkin Bucket.
What you’ll need:
- galvanized steel bucket
- rust colored paint (we used Americana Multi-Surface Cocoa Bean)
- dark and light colored grey paint (we used Americana Multi-Surface Steel Grey and Dolphin)
- black paint (we used Americana Multi-Surface Black Satin Tie)
- sea sponges
- paint pouncer
And the steps:
- To “age” the steel bucket, create rusty edges using your sponges around the rust colored paint.
- Once that is dry, use another paint sponge to apply a light coat of the darker grey paint all over the bucket.
- Once that is dry, do the same with the light grey paint.

Once you’ve achieved the look that you’re going for with the paint, let that cure at least over night. Then continue on:
- Using a cutting machine such as the Cricut or Silhouette (or even premade alphabet stencils), create your Farm Fresh Pumpkins stencil. If you have a Cricut machine, you can use this Farm Fresh Pumpkins Cut File.
- Tape the stencil to the area you’d like on the bucket and using a pouncer, fill in the stencil with black paint.
- Remove the stencil and let dry.

And the result is a sweet DIY Farmhouse Pumpkin Bucket that cost us less than $20 to make! How about that for a fall farmhouse look on a budget?! And now it’s time to fill it up with those fabulous Michaels craft pumpkins and floral stems!

We filled the bottom half with filler, layered a few fall floral picks then used the Michaels craft half pumpkins so that they fit easier and layered well in the bucket.

Feeling fall-inspired?!

Hello! What size bucket did you use? Did you get the bucket and paints from Michaels? Thank you!
Hi Amy – I did get the bucket from Michaels! I don’t see it online, but it was in the section where they have their wood slices and such. Good luck!
Just beautiful!!!! Love it!!!
Thank you, Tracy!
Wow! This is an awesome way to use pumpkins to decorate. I would have never thought of this. Thanks!
