Hi night owls! Emily from
Grace and Good Eats here, a new member of the Night Owl Creative Team this year! One of the things I was most excited about in our new house was the large mantel above the fireplace. I’ve made it my mission every holiday to have it decked out with festive decorations. I didn’t want to go out and buy a bunch of new decor, so instead I’ve been shopping the after season sales and doing a lot of DIY to fill the space. As I was taking down Valentine’s Day stuff, I noticed that my St. Patrick’s day decor was lacking, so I decided to whip up this easy
DIY Lucky in Love Sign.
I used my Silhoutte machine to cut out the letters and four leaf clover. I used hearts as the leaves of the clover to play on the love theme. I painted over the vinyl with Martha Stewart ‘Scottish Highlands’ green paint. After the paint dried I carefully peeled off each letter to reveal the white canvas. Finally, I used Mod Podge to paint the clover and covered it with gold glitter. I wish I had used a little bit thicker font for the “Love”, but I can always touch up the rough edges with a white paint pen.
What do you think of our DIY Lucky in Love Sign? Even though St. Patrick’s Day is a quick holiday between Valentine’s and Easter, it’s kind of nice to break up all the pink and red before jumping into pink and pastels. Not to mention my kiddos look forward to helping me change out the decor each month. It makes me happy every time I look at this space.
