New Mother’s Day Gift Basket
While I still have a while to go in my own twin pregnancy, I’ve had several friends and family members who have had babies just recently. I wanted to create a truly helpful Mother’s Day gift for each of them, plus find a cute way to deliver it all. There’s something so special about having a newborn on Mother’s Day and I wanted to celebrate that with this gift basket. Here are the goodies I included:
Coupon Book
When I asked my friends what they wanted the most, it was clear that cleaning and meals were at the top of the list. So I created a printable coupon book that they could use to call on my services whenever they needed a little extra help.
Click here to download two PDF pages of coupons:
- Coupon book cover
- 2 coupons for baby-holding so mom can take a nap/shower/whatever
- 1 coupon for babysitting during a date night for mom and dad (whenever they’re ready!)
- 2 coupons for a healthy meal
- 2 coupons for 2 hours of house cleaning
An “Escape” Book
A new mom can only browse Facebook for so long before she wants to just get off her phone. Included in the basket is one of my favorite books that totally doesn’t take a lot of brain power to read, Mindy Kaling’s Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? This book is seriously full of light-hearted laughs and is the perfect break from reading all the baby books on her nightstand.
Lip Gloss & Lotion
Post-pregnancy isn’t a time where women feel their best (though they should — a new mom is so beautiful!). I love the little eos sphere organic lip balms. So easy to toss in a diaper bag and makes moms lips feel soft and pretty again.
Snacks
It’s hard enough for a new mom to feed her baby, much less feeding herself! Meal trains are great, but so often people bring heavy pasta dishes. I included some a couple granola/protein bars and an apple so that she’d have something to snack on that’s on the healthier end of the spectrum. If you’re feeling extra domestic, you could even whip up a batch of lactation cookies (these are from How Sweet It Is).
Soothies
I included a set of Soothies Gel Pads for mom, who might be a little sore from feeding baby constantly. I’ve had several nursing moms suggest these, so I included them in my basket to help comfort mom.
Notes of Encouragement
I also included a personal, handwritten note that were tailored to each individual mom. Since these are some of my closest friends, I knew their triumphs and struggles intimately, and I tried to encourage them in ways I knew they needed the most.
Other ideas you may want to include are a subscription to Netflix or Hulu Plus for those late-night feedings, all the “goodies” that go along with being a new mom (pads, medicated wipes, etc.), nail polish, hand sanitizer, nursing tanks, magazines, Starbucks iced coffee or even a bottle of wine.
I packaged it all up in a nice basket, which can also double as a toy or diaper holder in the nursery if mom wants. And there you have it, a New Mother’s Day Gift Basket.
And since we’re well into spring now, I thought I’d share some of my favorite organizing and spring cleaning posts on Hey, Let’s Make Stuff — Seven Tips for a Lighter Purse, Cleaning Out Under Your Kitchen Sink and How to Dispose of Household Cleaners Properly, and How to Organize Your Maternity Wardrobe. Hope you enjoy spring cleaning this year!
