{Thrifty Thursday} An Easter Mantel

This week I’m doing something a little different for Thrifty Thursday. Why? Because I just finished updating my mantel for Easter and I need to get it posted (Easter will be here and gone before you know it!), and also because some of the key pieces were “thrifted” from my local Goodwill!

The main thrifted upcycle of this mantel are these topiaries I found a few weeks ago. I loved the size and shape and knew they would be a great fit for our mantel; however, I didn’t love the color. I wanted green. But not just any green…I chose this fresh, minty green called “pistachio” by Krylon and went to work. I think they turned out FABULOUS! They make me smile.

And here’s how the entire mantel turned out!

There are many lovely Spring printables floating around out there that I may just use once we get past Easter, but I ended up making the one that is on our mantel, because I really wanted the words of the mantel to speak to the real reason we celebrate. I made three different color variations, feel free to download your very own HERE! I added a ceramic Easter egg that I also found at Goodwill on the side.

And the lovely updated topiaries frame in an updated chalkboard (made with an 11×14 dollar store frame, spray painted with chalkboard paint, and the frame painted yellow), a twine-wrapped chipboard “S”, and a bunny silhouette in a painted dollar store frame. Also for a fun garland, I strung plastic Easter eggs on bakers twine to hang on the shelf above.

I adore how it turned out. What do you think?
