Hi friends! If you’ve been following along this past month, you’ll know that I shared about the Home Depot Do It Herself Workshop, a Twitter Party with Home Depot and Martha Stewart and an upcoming Pinterest Inspired Chore Chart #DIHWorkshop with Martha Stewart. Well that workshop was last week! Can you believe it? Did you go? The month of August is just flying by… Before we get into the festivities of the workshop, a quick congratulations to Alyssa M. for winning the $100 Home Depot Giftcard from our intro post! I wish you many happy DIYs Alyssa! Now back to last week…I headed down to my local Home Depot (Avondale #441 woop woop!) for the #DIHWorkshop on Chore Charts and really had SO MUCH FUN.
Some of my bloggy gal pals joined us, the amazing Laura of Pink Cake Plate and Janel of A Mom’s Take. But this workshop, my friends, is not just open to bloggers NO! It’s open to any women looking to expand their DIY knowledge and skills and let’s face it, just get out of the house for a bit! I’ve now deemed the Do It Herself Workshops my DIY Girl’s Night Out! Yes, that means I’ll be heading back, for sure! We had other local gals join us as well, young and seasoned! Seriously, there were two school-aged girls there who helped to build the chart they ended up taking home! How fun is that?
I had an amazing time with the Home Depot Crew, the Store Manager James was so very friendly and his #DIHDivas Cassandra, Stacie and Sally were a blast! They were super helpful, showing us how to build our own chore charts at home, everyone taking a turn for hands-on instruction and experience!
And you know what’s even MORE fun? Some of the creative gals who attended the Do It Herself Workshop turned the chore charts on their head and made other fun DIYs out of them! Check out this DIY Herb Garden that Laura of Pink Cake Plate made:
And my blog buddy Randi of Dukes and Duchesses attended her local #DIHWorkshop and made this adorable Art Station:
I even made my own Toddler DIY Chalkboard Paint Chore Chart for The Home Depot Apron Blog! Head over to check out that quick and easy DIY!
Great, projects right? So exciting what you can do with just a couple power tools and some how-to! Do you need any more convincing as to WHY you need to ? Ok, just in case, I put together a little video for you about my experience…

Thanks so much for sharing my art station! I had the best time at the DIH Workshop and can’t wait to go to another one … the idea is so great!
You’re welcome Randi – it turned out so great! I can’t wait for the next workshop!
I totally want to go to one of these workshops! Does the home depot has a schedule online?
Thanks!
Ursula

Super cute! I love how everyone’s is different! So fun!
This looks like SO much fun!! LOVE your apron and the video!!
I LOVE everyone’s takes on the chore charts! It looks like you ladies had a great time! 🙂
Visual chore charts are the best! I love your design!
Thanks April! You’ve been on a chore chart roll yourself lately!
I have a brand new Home Depot just around the corner from my house…just signed up for the next workshop!
It looks like it was so much fun! I will have to check out my local Home Depot for sure!
Looks like such a fun workshop! Thanks for letting us “virtually” come along with you Kim!!
Please, please, please tell me that girl is not wearing open toed shoes at the home depot! We would be sent home in a new York minute if we did that in our Homey D!!
Haha Dena – “that girl” is me! In my defense we live in Arizona. I never wear closed toe shoes… 😉
So – can you buy the materials at the workshop and go home with your creation, or does everyone take turns working on the same item with the idea that you’ll make your own when you go home? I can’t seem to figure that out from the Home Depot website!
Hi Laura – I think each store is different! 🙁 At ours we just made one, but at others I’ve seen each person make their own. You probably want to give your local HD a call to see what they’re planning to do!
