Mother and Baby Costume Idea: Little Red Riding Hood with Wolf

Hi friends! Halloween is RIGHT around the corner, eeek! Are you ready? This Halloween, Michaels has everything you need to MAKE it Spooky! We seem to always have a few versions of Halloween costumes each year, and of course some of those are DIY Halloween Costumes. Mother and Baby Costume Idea: Little Red Riding Hood with Wolf

You won’t believe how EASY this homemade costume idea is! We started with a pre-made red cape from Michaels Stores for mom’s Little Red Riding Hood costume. Done and done. But what about the wolf? We stole this idea from our easy, no-sew Kids Lion Halloween Costume and just put our little one in a grey jumpsuit from lovedbaby.com and gave him a little grey yarn “fur” headpiece.

What you’ll need:

• Grey top and pants
• Yarn (fluffy, multi-colored grey yarn works best!)
• Grey felt
• Liquid stitch
• Scissors
• Brown eyeliner (or Halloween face make-up)

And the steps:

1. Simply wrap rounds of yarn around your fingers, like you’re making a yarn pom-pom!
2. Tie a length of yarn around the rounds of yarn to secure.
3. Cut across the rounds of yarn on the opposite side and fluff.
4. Repeat this step, making plenty of yarn “pom-poms” for the mane!

Once you’re done with the poms:

1. Now braid 6 lengths of yarn to create a thick headband that you’ll use to tie the mane on. You’ll want to make sure that it’s long enough once braided to tie around your child’s head.
2. Tie off each end of the braided cord.
3. Starting from the middle of the cord, attach the yarn pom-poms by simply tying them to the cord.

Then for the ears:

1. Cut out a diamond shape from your grey felt.
2. Find two areas on top that you want to add them to, cover with liquid stitch and fold them over.

And voila! You have one easy, little wolf get up for one easy no-sew Mother and Baby Costume: Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf!

Then you just tie that fun little wolf mane onto your child, add a little wolf nose (I just used my brown eyeliner) and you’re done! Isn’t he the CUTEST?
