Easy Chalk Art Hack

Not a chalkboard artist? Fake it with this fun and Easy Chalk Art Hack! 

Hello there ANO readers! With the Back to School season here, I find myself looking at ads and sales to prepare ourselves for the school year ahead. I love this time of year and all things back to school because I’m nerdy like that. As a former elementary school teacher and now a homeschooler, I guess it’s in my blood to get excited over new school supplies and books. I like to bring the excitement of a new school year into our home by doing a little decorating. I absolutely LOVE chalk art, but it’s not my strongest skill. As a crafty blogger, I have quite the arsenal of craft supplies and tools. Hands down, I use my Silhouette Cameo more than any other tool. It’s pretty much my fave. I used it to create a vinyl stencil to apply to my chalkboard. I found a quote and design I liked in the Silhouette online store, purchased it for $0.99 and created a stencil in the design center, taking account for the size of my chalkboard. After cutting the design into the vinyl, weeding it, and adding transfer paper, I applied the stencil to the chalkboard and smoothed it down really well. You want to make sure the edges of the vinyl words are pressed down against the chalkboard really well to avoid bleeding.
Using a chalk pen, carefully color in the words of the vinyl stencil. Allow dry time.
Remove the vinyl stencil and clean up any messy edges with a very damp paint brush and paper towel. I suggest putting it somewhere in your home that your children will see it so that it’s a constant daily reminder for an exciting new school year ahead.
