{Thrifty Thursday} A Goodwill Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Upcycle

Hi friends! I have a FUN project to share with you today, on Thrifty Thursday – a raggedy Goowill side table updated with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint! Now this project has been done for a while, I don’t know why it took me so long to share it with you! But now as a functional piece in our home, I just adore it. I’m so glad I didn’t pass it by…
Would you have? I don’t remember the exact price, but I think it was around $7. And I was looking for a small entryway table for my handbag and such and this seemed like the perfect fit.
So I took it home and added two coats of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Emperor’s Silk to the table. There were also some pegs missing, but I found easy replacements at Hobby Lobby that fit right in. A coat of paint on those and you couldn’t tell the difference.
I’m really in love with this color.
Now once dry, I started to work on the table with the Annie Sloan Dark Wax. We have quite a few burgundy accent pieces in our home, and when picking out the paint color I noted that the Emperor’s Silk with the Dark Wax took on more of a burnt red hue that I thought would be perfect for our home.
And here’s how the little guy turned out. What do you think?
I also added a fun wire basket to the center so I can store things there as well.
And now you can see where my handbag lives! I’m so happy I have a place to put it, and we have a key holder to match that sits right above. Now this is right next to our garage door so when I’m ready, I can grab my things and go!
Convenient, and I think pretty! What do you think? What kind of thrifty treasures have you found lately? Any good upcycles? Be sure to share them with us in the comments below!

Freaking LOVE it! The wire basket makes it. I’ve been coveting the Annie Sloan collection but just can’t shell out for it just yet.
Very cute! I have always wanted to do something like this, I have just been to lazy to go looking!

Love it! Great job.
Thank you Jeanne!
Love, love, love it! It looks so great with that wire basket in it. What an awesome makeover!
Thank you Randi! I can’t believe how well the basket fit, it was meant to be! Haha!
I love it. So retro chic! I’ve used Annie Sloan paint on a dresser, but I used clear wax. This makes me want to try the dark! I love how it really changes the color.
Thanks for sharing! Here’s my dresser:

Hi I’m elisa-I follow you on twitter-this table looks great! I love the color. I’ve heard about this paint and I’m dyeing to use it.
Hi Elisa – you really do have to try it! It’s so easy to work with and always turns out beautifully!
I’m smitten with the red…glad to see your project done in it and finished with the dark wax. I’m not sure if it will work for me…colorwise…but your project looks terrific. And…the basket fits in perfectly! Yay!
It was such a happy moment when I got the basket home (without measuring or anything) and it fit like a glove! Don’t you love when things like that happen?
This table is adorable and I love the wire basket. Do you work the wax in with the cloth that is beside the can in the picture?
Saw you on TT&J
Ahh yes Sue – I guess I should have worked that into the post! It’s just cheesecloth, which is what was recommended to me at the store where I bought the ASCP! It’s fairly easy to work with!
Absolutely adorable! I just completed my first project with chalk paint, my kitchen table. And I LOVE it! I can’t wait to try more things. I need to head over to Goodwill!
Thanks Chessa! I’ve only done a couple of projects so far, but I am ADDICTED! It’s worth every penny, don’t you think?
One of things on my “to do” lists is to do exactly this. Find an old table to replace the an existing side table and paint it red. Still hunting down that perfect side table. Yours turned out really great!
I love this color — and Anne Sloan chalk paint! I actually just did a little end table in the stuff today, and I must say, I love it. I want to use this red color on something….I’m thinking a dresser I have…
Thanks for sharing!!!

Isn’t it fun? I do really love the color too! I think it’s great for accent pieces! Good luck and can’t wait to see what you come up with!
This colour is so beautiful! I’ve never tried it, but seeing this I think I will have to. Gorgeous! I have a few thrifted and gifted items I have to work on, I really have to get working on them. Such a procrastinator.
Debbie 🙂
Wow, that turned out absolutely beautifully! I keep meaning to give ASCP a try… I need to find a Goodwill piece and go to town! Thanks for the inspiration 🙂
This is such a cute DIY makeover…luv that color! Would luv to have you come by and share it at my Nifty Thrifty Tuesday party.
Blessings,
Linda
This looks fantastic! I love the colour! 🙂
I love this! I have an end table I thrifted that needs a little makeover too!
I love how this turned out and the little basket is cute! I just featured this in my DIY projects round-up from last week’s Monday Funday party.

I love this upcycle! I don’t think I would have thought to use this for an entry but it is a great idea. I have a small entry and would like a small surface for dropping items as I come in the house — this has given me new eyes as to what to look for!
Great color! I love it.
This looks awesome!! Do you have to sand with this paint? I have a table I got for free that has some color issues and I think a coat of paint is just what it needs.
I found your site over from the Goodwill Upcycle Challenge. Such a lovely makeover! I also entered and will be posting on my blog later today!
Good luck with the Challenge!

It looks darling! I love the color.
